Fernández Lizardi, Alexander von Humboldt, José Vasconcelos, and Carlos Fuentes. His teaching and research interests include Mexican intellectual and cultural history, European travel literature of the nineteenth-century, colonial Latin American literature, and the continuities of Spanish Golden Age literature within Latin American literature.
