Busby, Cathy
Professor
Areas of Expertise: Basic research focuses on stratigraphy and tectonincs of volcanoplutonic arcs, and controls of tectonics and eustacy on sedimentation in active margin basins. The work integrates sedimentological, volcanological, structural and geochronological data from Mesozoic continental and island arc successions to better understand the interaction between volcanism, tectonics, and sedimentation.

Gans, Phillip
Associate Professor
Areas of Expertise: Interests lie in the general fields of structural geology and tectonics and are focused on deformational and thermal processes within the continental lithosphere. Research is mainly in the field of Extensional Tectonics and is focused on exactly how continents rift and the relationship between extension and magmatism. Projects generally involve detailed geologic mapping of critical areas followed by appropriate laboratory measurements.
