How UC compares
Another way of looking at affordability is to compare the costs of UC to those of other public institutions. Before financial aid is factored in, the total costs of UC attendance are near the top of its public comparison institutions.

After financial aid is factored in, however, the comparison changes – and the net cost to UC students falls significantly relative to the University’s public comparison institutions.

While UC has worked in committed fashion to preserve access and affordability for students, the pressures of demographic change and limited government funding, as described earlier in this presentation, will continue to make these objectives an important focal point for the University’s planning in the coming years.
What other issues should we consider?
