President Dynes gets a tour of the Elkhorn Slough by UC farm advisor Rick Starr. UC researchers and advisors partner with the commercial fishing industry, farmers, government and non-profits throughout the Monterey Bay region to improve fishing sustainability and environmental quality.

President Dynes observes lettuce harvest with Salinas-area grower Ron Yokota. UC farm advisors work with local growers to provide the latest insect and weed control research for lettuce crops.

President Dynes met with over 100 area alumni at the Steinbeck Center in downtown Salinas. Later that evening, Dynes had dinner with area college presidents and local agricultural, K-12 and business leaders.
