POLICY CONCERNING BILINGUAL AND CROSS-CULTURAL EDUCATION
Approved May 17, 1974
Updated September 22, 2005

It is the objective of the University of California to encourage the development of more effective ways of educating children from bilingual homes and various cultural groups and to enhance general public understanding of the cultural values represented by the various languages and customs of California's diverse population. To support that goal, the University of California will attempt to employ on each of its campuses that has a teacher education program faculty members who are qualified for appointment by University standards and are prepared by experience and education to provide research, program development leadership, and instruction on cross-cultural and multilingual educational problems and potentialities.
