RealPlayer Installation for the Mac

WARNING:   Print these instructions for reference as you download and install the software. If you proceed without printing this page, you will not be able to view the instructions while you are downloading and installing the software.

When the installation is complete, RealPlayer will launch automatically, play a test clip and then auto launch your browser and load the Real Audio Web Page. Use your normal browser navigational techniques to proceed to the Internet broadcast of your choice. You may test your installation at the following location:   http://realmedia1.ucop.edu/live.ram

Download the free Real Player software now.

  1. Enter your name and email address. (These fields may NOT be left blank.)
  2. Select you Country (e.g., United States)
  3. Select your OS platform
  4. Select your processor (CPU) type
  5. Select your language (e.g., English)
  6. Select your connection method (e.g., T1)
  7. Click once on "Download FREE RealPlayer"
  8. Based on your responses above, RealNetworks will determine which version of the player is appropriate for your workstation. You may let it default to the one selected by RealNetworks, or switch to another option and then click once on "Download FREE RealPlayer"
  9. Select one of the Seattle sites for quickest transmission of the software. RealNetworks defaults to your desktop for the location of the Installer file.

After the file has been downloaded, quit Netscape (or other browser).
Continuing with the installation of the software...

  1. Find the RealPlayer Installer icon on your desktop and double click.
  2. At the Welcome Screen, Click Next
  3. At the license agreement screen, Click Next
  4. Enter name, company, email address. Click Next.
  5. Select type of Internet connection: T1/LAN if on a network (Ethernet or Token Ring) or appropriate modem speed if using dialup connection. Click Next.
  6. The installation defaults to the desktop folder on your hard disk, if this is correct, click Next, or select Browse to locate another location and then click Next.
  7. Uncheck any browsers with which you do not want to use RealPlayer, or add Browsers as appropriate and click Next.
  8. Select your preferred Browser as your default Browser and click Next.
  9. Click Finish
When the installation process is complete, summary information will be displayed. Click OK. The electronic registration window is then displayed. Complete the registration card online and press Send if you are currently connected to the Internet. RealPlayer will launch automatically, play a test clip and then launch your browser and load the RealNetworks Web Page.
