RealPlayer Installation for Windows
WARNING:
Print these instructions for reference as you download and install the software.
If you proceed without printing this page, you will not be able to view the instructions while you are
downloading and installing the software.
When the installation is complete, your browser and RealPlayer will be launched automatically,
and you will be on the RealPlayer Showcase page in your browser where you can test the installation
of the software by clicking on one of the demo sound clips, or use your normal browser navigational techniques
to proceed to the Internet broadcast of your choice. You may also test your installation at the following
location: http://realmedia1.ucop.edu/live.ram
Download the free Real Player software now.
- Enter your name and email address. (These fields may NOT be left blank.)
- Select your Country
- Select your OS platform
- Select your processor (CPU) type
- Select your language (e.g., English)
- Select your connection method (e.g., T1)
- Click once on "Download FREE RealPlayer"
- Based on your responses above, RealNetworks will determine which version(s) of the Player
is appropriate for your desktop. You may let it default to their selection or switch to another
option, then click once on "Download FREE RealPlayer"
- Select one of the Seattle sites for quickest transmission of the software.
- Maneuver to the folder where downloaded files are saved on your PC.
- Click on OK to begin the transmission of the file.
After the file has been downloaded, quit Netscape (or other browser).
Continuing with the installation of the software...
- Go to Windows Explorer and locate the file (filename is r32_g20.exe for a pentium PC)
- Double click on the filename. This will launch RealPlayer Setup
- Click Accept (for the Terms and Conditions)
- Enter your email address and click Finish
- Setup will automatically install RealPlayer on your PC.
- Upon complletion of the installation, an electronic registration window will appear. Enter any
information which is not already entered or correct any errors, then click Next.
- Select type of Internet connection: choose T1 if on Ethernet segment, or choose appropriate modem speed
if using a modem and click Next.
- Select categories for your channel lineup if desired and then click Next.
- RealNetworks configuration window is optional. Click Finish after reviewing this screen.
- RealPlayer and your default browser will both lauanch
automatically, and you will be on the RealNetworks demo page in your browser where you can
test the installation of the software by clicking on one of the demo sound clips.
- The installation is now complete.
