Higher Education Energy Efficiency Partnership

To fund its aggressive energy efficiency program, UC formed a unique partnership with the California State University system and the state's Investor Owned Utilities (IOUs).

Since 2004, UC has received over $22 million in energy efficiency project funding through this partnership.

In addition to funding energy efficiency retrofits and existing building tune-ups through "monitoring-based commissioning" projects (see below), the program also provides extensive training to UC staff in project management, facilities, and other related campus units.

Monitoring-Based Commissioning (MBCx)

Monitoring-Based Commissioning is a continuous commissioning process that utilizes permanent monitoring equipment to improve the performance of existing building systems and equipment and assure verification and persistence of savings.
