UC prepares diverse California K-12 students for college

The University of California’s college preparation programs prepare California’s students for postsecondary education. UC’s college preparation programs work with schools that fall into the 1-5 range on the Academic Performance Index (API) rank; most schools also enroll a high percentage of underrepresented minorities (i.e., African American, Chicano/Latino, and American Indian), many of whom qualify for the National School Lunch Program, the key metric for identifying low-income students. Two out of three high school seniors who participate in UC’s college preparation programs enroll immediately enroll at a California public college. Students who participate in UC’s college preparation programs are admitted and enroll UC at higher rates than their peers.
