UC statement on passing of Kaiser CEO Bernard J. Tyson

University of California President Janet Napolitano and UC Health’s Executive Vice President Dr. Carrie Byington issued the below statement today (Nov. 10) following the passing of Bernard J. Tyson, CEO and chair of Kaiser Permanente:

We extend our deepest condolences to Bernard’s family, friends, colleagues and those who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. From Kaiser’s mail room to the executive office, Bernard spent his entire life channeling his determination and passion into transforming health care and expanding access for millions of people. His legacy—as a true visionary and a tireless advocate for health equity care— will extend far beyond Kaiser. His compassion and positive influence will continue to improve the well-being of countless communities across the country for decades to come. Everything Bernard did had heart, and he will be sorely missed.
