University of California President Janet Napolitano today (July 29) announced the formation of an advisory committee of university faculty, staff, students, alumni and foundation representatives to help in the international search for a new chancellor to lead the Merced campus. Regent George Kieffer, the Board of Regents Chair for 2017-2019, appointed five regents to serve on the committee.

The 2019 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings places the campus in its top 5.

A national search will commence for the next visionary to lead the University of California, Merced, following Chancellor Dorothy Leland announcement today (May 16) that she will retire from the system’s youngest campus at the end of the current academic year.

The University of California Board of Regents approved today (May 16) Dr. Cynthia K. Larive as the eleventh chancellor of UC Santa Cruz. Currently the provost and executive vice chancellor at UC Riverside, Larive has served the UC community for nearly a decade and a half as a faculty member, administrator and leader.
