Terms and conditions
Here are the terms and conditions that apply to the University of California’s “Graduate Admissions Website Survey” gift card raffle (the “Raffle”).
The sponsor of this Raffle is the University of California, Office of the President, 1111 Franklin St, Oakland, CA 94607. You understand that you are voluntarily providing your information to the University of California.
By entering the Raffle, you agree these terms and conditions apply to your entry. These terms and conditions may change from time to time.
To participate in the Raffle, you must submit your entry between March 23, 2022 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time and April 8, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific time (“Raffle Period”).
No purchase is necessary to enter or win. You can enter only one submission during the Raffle Period. Incomplete and invalid surveys will not be accepted. During the Raffle Period, you will need to have completed UC’s “Graduate Admissions Website Survey.” The University of California assumes no responsibility for errors that may occur in the transmission of the entrant’s survey answers.
The University of California has the right to extend the dates of the Raffle, and we’ll provide notice if we do extend the dates. The University of California can also cancel or modify the Raffle if there are technical or administrative reasons beyond our reasonable control.
Twenty entries will be randomly selected to win an Amazon gift card. Total prize value is approximately USD $25. This prize value is accurate as of the start of the Raffle.
You can’t exchange the prize for cash from the University of California, and the prize is non-transferable. We will use reasonable efforts to award the prize as described but if we are unable to do that, we may substitute another prize of comparable value. You’ll be responsible for all taxes, insurance and any other expenses, fees, and costs connected with that prize that are not included in the prize description.
Each entrant is responsible for monitoring their email account for notification. On Friday, April 22, 2022, we’ll start notifying the winners by sending an email to their specified email address. The winners must respond and claim their prize by responding to the designated email. We’ll ask for any details required for the prize by a follow-up email to the winners.
The University of California will engage in reasonable efforts to find the winners. If we can’t, or if a prize winner hasn’t contacted us within 72 hours of our contact, another winner will be randomly selected and declared the winner of the prize.
If you win, we may ask you to provide proof of identity, residency, and age. If you can’t provide, or refuse to provide suitable proof, then you may be disqualified, and we may choose another winner.
If you’d like to find out who won, send an email to webeditor@ucop.edu and include the name of the Raffle within 3 months of the closing date of the Raffle.
The University of California may use any personal information contained in your entry or submitted to us in connection with this Raffle and awarding the prize. By participating in this Raffle, you authorize the University of California (if it so chooses) to use your name, likeness, and biographical information in connection with this Raffle and awarding the prize.
You’re also responsible for your use of the prize, including complying with any applicable terms and conditions of use, including any applicable conditions along with complying with all relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
The University of California is not responsible for use of the prize that results in:
-
loss that was not reasonably foreseeable;
-
loss that was not caused by our negligence;
-
business losses or loss suffered by non-consumers;
-
losses caused by factors that could reasonably be considered to be outside our control; and
-
any loss caused, or contributed to, by your breach of conditions of entry or your negligence.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California. The laws in some places may not permit this Raffle, in which case the Raffle and these terms and conditions are void in those places. You can’t enter this Raffle if you (or your immediate family including parents, children, siblings, partner, grandparents, or roommates) are employed by the University of California, Office of the President. If you are under 18, you must have permission from your parents or legal guardian to enter.
The University of California reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has engaged in: unlawful or improper conduct, conduct designed to jeopardize the fair conduct of the Raffle, conduct generally damaging to the reputation of the University of California, or any breach of these terms and conditions (as determined in the University of California’s sole discretion). The University of California may determine, in its sole discretion, if an entry is suitable and may disqualify any entrant who submits content it deems to be objectionable or offensive (even though such content might not be offensive to everyone). The University of California is not responsible for any fraud, intellectual property infringement, or other misconduct on the part of the entrants. Should an entrant engage in fraud, infringement, or other misconduct of any nature, including but not limited to a violation of the official rules, such entrant shall be subject to immediate disqualification upon discovery of such misconduct. The University of California reserves the right to terminate, modify, or amend the contest at any time if the fairness, integrity, and/or proper administration of the contest is jeopardized.
By participating in this Raffle, you agree to release, forever discharge, and agree to hold harmless the University and its officers, agents, and employees from any and all claims and demands arising from your entry or participation in this Raffle – including but not limited to claims for violation of rights of publicity, invasion of privacy, libel, defamation, copyright infringement, or trademark infringement.
