Calling all students: Become a UCAN ambassador

The University of California’s Advocacy Network (UCAN) is looking for student ambassadors to help champion UC’s community of advocates and serve as liaisons between students and the university’s government relations team.

Ambassadors will play an integral role in UCAN — a broad community of students, alumni, staff, faculty and others who help shape state and federal policies to benefit the university’s primary missions of education, research and public service.

From engaging more people in UCAN to representing students at the state capitol, student ambassadors will receive hands-on experience in public affairs and civic engagement while gaining an inside look at how UC advances critical policies.

“The UCAN Student Ambassador program is an exciting opportunity for students to join together with other UC community members to help support the institution we all love so much,” said Rafael Sands, student advisor to the UC Board of Regents.

“The launch of UCAN was the launch of a UC-wide advocacy coalition of unprecedented size, and with the student ambassador program to help support it, we can ensure that students are as much a part of our calls for action as anyone else.”

Interested students may apply online by Sunday, Jan. 28. Up to four students will be selected to serve from Feb. 1 to May 30, 2018.
