University of California statement following California State Senate Committee vote on ACA 6

The University of California released the following statement today (Sept. 11) after the California State Senate Standing Committee on Elections and Constitutional Amendments voted not to advance ACA 6.

The University of California thanks the committee for not advancing ACA 6, which would have treated the University of California differently from every other academic institution, whether public or private. The University of California is a proud union employer, and we take our responsibility to our employees seriously. As part of the University of California’s public mission, we aim to unlock doors of economic opportunity. That’s why the University of California is an employer of choice for so many people in California. We look forward to working with legislators to ensure competitive compensation and respectful work environments for all University of California employees.
