Protect our nation’s DACA recipients
On Sept. 5, 2017, President Donald Trump announced his decision to effectively end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. This decision will uproot the lives of an estimated 700,000 DACA recipients across the nation. UC has approximately 4,000 undocumented students, a substantial number of whom are DACA recipients. In addition, the university has educators, researchers and health care providers who are also DACA recipients.
UC is committed to providing resources and creating a supportive environment at each campus for undocumented students and other undocumented members of the UC community.
Thank you for your interest in advocating for DACA recipients. UC will continue to call on Congress to immediately pass bipartisan legislation to provide a permanent solution for these young people – one that allows them to continue to live, work and serve the only country most of them know as home.
If you have not already, please sign up to be a UCAN advocate so we can alert you of future opportunities to advocate for our nation’s DACA recipients. In the meantime, you can find additional advocacy resources online.
