President Milliken is a distinguished higher education leader with more than 30 years of experience serving in leadership roles at large institutions. He brings a strong focus on research and academic excellence, a deep commitment to making college accessible and affordable, and experience leading a large academic health care system.

As president of the University of California, he oversees UC’s world-renowned system of 10 campuses, six academic health centers, three affiliated national laboratories, more than 290,000 students and 230,000 faculty and staff.

The University of California Board of Regents today approved the appointment of James B. Milliken as the 22nd president of UC’s world-renowned system of 10 campuses, six academic health centers, and three affiliated National Laboratories.
