Lawmakers heard from UC advocates more than 5,000 times and this budget reflects our efforts and shared belief in higher education’s ability to uplift and transform lives. Your emails, calls, tweets, and signatures kept UC at the forefront of budget negotiations. We did it!

These investments will strengthen the University of California and enhance its impact on the lives of Californians for years to come.

This funding will allow UC to:

• Expand access for more California students to receive a UC degree, while also hiring more faculty members and staff to support our growing student population.

• Advance climate-focused research to protect our communities from the effects of climate change, including wildfire mitigation and drought preparedness.

• Repair aging buildings and build more classrooms and labs across UC.

• Support efforts to alleviate the student housing crisis.

The University is also thankful for the Governor and Legislature’s meaningful support for vital programs that will help undocumented, formerly incarcerated, and former foster-youth students.
